School workshops

I deliver portrait painting workshops to secondary schools across the Midlands and the North West. They are available as full-day sessions or as part of a longer programme delivered over several weeks or months. My teaching style is practical and supportive, and designed to bring out the best in each student. I hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate for working with children as an artist educator.

I am a full member of the National Society for Education in Art & Design (NSEAD) and my portrait workshop has just been Highly Commended in the NSEAD AWARDS 2026. I am also registered as one of their Artist Educators for workshops in schools. Please click here to view my details on their directory.

When I’m not delivering workshops, I work as a professional fine artist in my studio in Cheshire. I am an elected member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts (MAFA) and the Contemporary British Portrait Painters (CBPP), and my paintings are held in both public and private collections.

I have exhibited widely, including at the John Moores Painting Prize (2020), the UK’s foremost contemporary painting competition, and the Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery (2024 and 2026) - one of the most prestigious portrait painting competitions in the world.

“I highly recommend Peter's workshops. Not only is he an amazing inspirational artist, but he's also highly organised and well prepared and most importantly willing to share his expertise. My students gained a lot from his sessions, and I'm sure yours will too!” Michelle Billington - Head of Art, Alderley Edge School for Girls

“Peter attended a days workshop at our Buckinghamshire grammar school. He was informative, inspiring and generous with his time. Each student created a wonderful portrait under his guidance. I would definitely recommend to other schools looking to run an artist workshop.” Catherine Patricia - Art Dept, Aylesbury High School
